Post Jam Update v1.2

Randomization Rework

How memory is distributed to the level is no longer purely random. Now each level is divided into several regions, each of which distribute a pre-determined number of memories. And while I was at it, I took the opportunity to adjust the difficulty spike to be more gradual. Some levels were replaced and few more were added until I got 12 levels in total.

New System: Unlockable Collectibles

Originally, I wanted to include collectibles in the original jam version as a way of including hololive references. However, ultimately I could not finish it within the two weeks of the jam period. Now that I had more time at my disposal, I took the opportunity to create 3 artworks as collectibles. These collectibles can be obtained by completing certain milestone levels in the game. The unlocked collectibles can be viewed in the Gallery menu.

In Game Tutorial

The tutorial has been moved from the game page into the level itself so that the tutorials could be given gradually and hopefully make them less overwhelming to players. Also, I'm experimenting with adding small icons next to in-game terms in the tutorial text to make it easier for players to distinguish them.

Bugfix

The diagonal movement controls have been reworked and are now more reliable. It is no longer necessary to press the two directional buttons simultaneously and precisely, as in previous versions.

Gameplay Tweak

  • Finding a memory now will only restore 2 sanity and no longer fully restore the player's sanity.
  • On previous version, stepping on a corrupted tile/whisper occupied by memory didn't reduce the player's sanity. Now, stepping on a corrupted tile/whisper decreases sanity regardless of whether it's occupied or not.

Others

  • Add Settings menu for adjusting sound volume and selecting language
  • New Intro & Ending text
  • Change the icon for Sanity to distinguish it from the memory icon
  • Add label to indicate the room number within a level
  • Add checkmark icon to indicate completed levels in the level selection menu
  • Add background music
  • Add animation to indicate fog tiles fading
  • Add animation to indicate corrupted tiles / whispers fading
  • Add animation on scene and menu transition
  • Add sound effect for UIs
